BIOMASS POWER PLANT

Problem

A biomass facility was constructed in the center of a town in Connecticut to produce clean energy.  Once the plant was completed, dust was generated from the process causing the local town council to put an ultimatum to the plant about reducing the dust.  The dust was generated throughout the process including stockpiling, transferring of the biomass, and various material handling processes in the plant.

Solution

DSI constructed a multi-faceted approach to handle the dust issues.  Using a combination of Dry Fog in the truck unloading areas, hoppers, and transfer points along with a wind fence around the stockpile building, DSI was able to effectively reduce the dust.  The plant was able to present this to the local authorities and get buy-in from the community as well.  The system has been operating since inception for over 8 years to date.
